The teleconference for World MS Day is really coming together. I'm excited about it. (Which I'm sure you're not surprised about, because I generally only post when stuff gets me excited!)

The format of the teleconference will be an MS Town Hall meeting. We will have panelists, but we hope it will be highly participatory for the audience. The topic will be "Unmet Needs in the MS Community." Each of our panelists will take 2-3 minutes to discuss what those needs are from their perspective, then will open it up to the audience for discussion or questions.

The panelists? So far, I've confirmed the following:

Angela J. Bates, MD - A neurologist from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center's Clinical Center for Multiple Sclerosis in Dallas, Dr. Bates herself has MS, making her a true expert in treating and coping with the disease.

Traci Seidman, Ph.D - A Licensed Clinical Psychologist in private family practice in Sunrise, Florida, a member of the MSF's Board of Directors, and a Medical Advisor to the MSF, Dr. Seidman has also been diagnosed with MS. She specializes in helping people achieve positive adaptations to many life events including chronic illness, pain and disabilities.

Ellen Guthrie, Pharm.D - Doctor of Pharmacy Ellen Guthrie has been a medical advisor for MSF since 2002. In that time, she's written dozens of articles for MSFocus and answered thousands of medications questions on the Ask the Doctor forum. She is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy where she lectures primarily on MS. She is particularly interested in area of Pediatric MS.

Jeffrey Segal, NSCA-CPT - Personal trainer Jeff Segal is an NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, as well as an NSCA-Certified Personal Trainer and an MSF Ambassador. Jeff was diagnosed with MS at age 25 and was soon spending his days in a wheelchair. He launched his own wellness and rehabilitation program and today has reclaimed his life through exercise, nutrition, and other wellness strategies.

I don't want to speak out of turn - these aren't 100% confirmed yet - but I believe we may also have a wonderful support group leader/caregiver and a clinical social worker from an MS center as panelists. I'll let you know more about them once I've confirmed. And of course, I'll be moderating and offering a bit of the nonprofit perspective.

If you want to participate, call in directly at (888) 550-5602 and enter 2344 1168. (Again, that's May 27 at 8 p.m. Eastern.) You can also register to get a meeting reminder by phone or by email by emailing editor@msfocus.org or by calling (800) 225-6495, ext. 145.

Hope to talk to all of you then!
